The Milwaukee men's swimming and diving team secured a decisive victory over Stevens Point, winning 206-71 in their final dual meet of the season. The Panthers' performance was highlighted by two-win efforts from Gunnar Seversen and Alvin Valkki.
Milwaukee achieved first-place finishes in 13 events, with nine athletes contributing to the victories. This win brings their dual meet season record to 3-2.
"Great way to end our dual meet season. Going into these late-season meets on the road you never know how they are going to go," said head coach Kyle Clements. "I was very happy to see that the overall result carried over from last weekend."
Seversen excelled in the 200 freestyle, finishing with a time of 1:42.06, and also won the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:53.96. Valkki's victories came in the 100 breaststroke at 58.50 and the 200 individual medley at 2:00.01.
Victor Kostov claimed victory in the 100 backstroke with a time of 53.34, while Trevor Nicodemus earned his first collegiate win in the 200 breaststroke, finishing at 2:12.63.
In freestyle events, Ben Lorenz won the 50 freestyle with a time of 20.81, Charlie House topped the podium in the 100 freestyle at 46.85, and Jay Jensen took first place in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:36.08.
Caleb Carlisle added another win for Milwaukee in the 100 butterfly with a time of 49.85, while Nik Wheeler finished first in the 200 butterfly clocking in at 1:59.31.
The Panthers also succeeded in relay events, starting with a win in the 200 medley relay (1:34.35) and concluding with a victory in the 400 freestyle relay (3:03.28).
"We have done nothing but pace and fine-tune our championship events over the last month, and now it's time to rest," concluded Clements.
The Panthers will next compete at the Wisconsin First Chance Meet on February 7-8 in Madison before heading to the Horizon League Championships from February 19-22.
