Milwaukee's women's basketball team secured a narrow victory over Youngstown State, winning 61-56 in a closely contested game. Anna Lutz led the Panthers with 20 points and eight rebounds, while Kacee Baumhower added 11 points.

"Today we played well and fought for that win," said Panther head coach Kyle Rechlicz. "I think that says a lot about who we are and who we are still becoming as a team."

The Panthers overcame a nine-point deficit in the second quarter, scoring 11 unanswered points to lead by two at halftime. The second half saw both teams exchange leads until Milwaukee pulled ahead in the final minutes.

Lutz and Jorey Buwalda made crucial layups, helping Milwaukee regain the lead after Youngstown State tied the game at 53. Buwalda also contributed late free throws alongside Kamy Peppler to secure the win.

"I thought the timing on our post passes were incredible this game," said Rechlicz. "It was nice to see our team settle in … I was proud of how we competed in the last four minutes."

Milwaukee recorded 17 assists on their 22 field goals, shooting 40.7 percent from the field. Defensively, they limited Youngstown State to 36.5 percent shooting.

Youngstown State's Malia Magestro scored five three-pointers, totaling 24 points. Sophia Gregory added ten points, while Jewel Watkins had 13 points and seven rebounds.

After the game, Milwaukee honored its senior class members: Baumhower, Donaldson, Lutz, and Hallie Majoros for their contributions to the program.

The Panthers will face Detroit Mercy Titans on Thursday at Calihan Hall.
