Milwaukee track & field teams prepare for Grand Valley State's Big Meet Friday

The Milwaukee track and field teams are set to compete at Grand Valley State's Big Meet Friday, held at the Kelly Family Sports Center in Allendale, Michigan. The event will begin with the 5000m run at 7:30 a.m. (CT) and conclude with the long jump starting at 10:30 a.m. (CT).

In their previous competition at La Crosse's Mark Guthrie Legacy Invite, Jaelyn Reeves-Lile of the Panther men's team broke his own school record in the 60m dash with a time of 6.72 seconds. This achievement earned him the Horizon League Track Athlete of the Week title for the third time this season. He also holds the school record for the 300m dash.

Bryant McLaughlin secured an individual win by clearing 1.97m in the high jump, while Caden Thomas also cleared 1.97m, finishing fourth after tiebreakers. Freshman Iyimi Fagbamiye tied his fifth-best time on Milwaukee's indoor leaderboard in the 60m hurdles with a second-place finish at 8.05 seconds.

Evan Bartelsen achieved second place in pole vault by clearing 4.70m, and Karstan Grundahl finished second in the 800m run with a time of 1:56.05.

On the women's side, Anelise Egge won the 800m run with a time of 2:13.86, while Victoria Evtimov took first place in the 200m dash clocking in at 25.38 seconds. Anna Szepieniec claimed third place in that race and tied for fifth-best program history time in the 60m hurdles.

Olivia VanZeeland won her event by clearing 1.65m in high jump, while Hailey Soriaga and Isabel Roloff both cleared heights of 3.64m in pole vault.

Ally Schmitz added another runner-up finish for Milwaukee by completing her mile run with a time of 5:15.56.

Milwaukee will host its final home meet next week on February 22 for the Panther Tune-Up before heading to Fort Wayne, Indiana for Horizon League Indoor Championships on March 1-2.
