The Milwaukee men's track and field team participated in Grand Valley State's Big Meet Friday, showcasing impressive performances. Jaelyn Reeves-Lile led the way by breaking two school records. He set a new record in the 60m dash with a time of 6.70, surpassing his previous record of 6.72 from February 8, securing third place. In the 200m dash, Reeves-Lile recorded a time of 21.30, beating the previous record of 21.44 set by Marquis Johnson in 2016 and also finishing third.
Head coach Andrew Basler praised Reeves-Lile's performance: "Jaelyn absolutely owned the day with two school records."
Lucas Picco made a mark in the 800m run during the afternoon session, achieving fourth place on the school's indoor leaderboard with a time of 1:50.66, which was also the best by any Horizon League runner this season. Karsten Grundahl secured second place in an earlier section with a time of 1:53.27.
Basler commented on their efforts: "Our 800m group ran extremely tough getting a conference leading mark from Lucas, as well as a strong performance from Karsten."
Nathan Taylor won the 400m dash with a time of 49.32 for Milwaukee Panthers. Iyimi Fagbamiye advanced past prelims in the 60m hurdles with an initial time of 8.08 and finished sixth overall at 8.07.
Cullen Boyle delivered a notable performance in the 5000m run, finishing fourth among 23 competitors with a time of 15:00.79.
Coach Basler concluded positively about their showing: "We really performed well on the big track today," adding that it was just what they needed ahead of upcoming championships.
Milwaukee is set to host its final home meet next week on February 22 for the Panther Tune-Up at Klotsche Center before heading to Fort Wayne, Indiana for the Horizon League Indoor Championships scheduled for March 1-2.
