Milwaukee swim & dive sets records on first day at Horizon League Championships

The Milwaukee swimming and diving teams competed on the first day of the Horizon League Championships in Indianapolis, Indiana. The men's team set new school records in both the 200 medley and 800 freestyle relays.

The 200 medley relay team, consisting of Victor Kostov, Alvin Valkki, Caleb Carlisle, and Ben Lorenz, finished with a time of 1:28.33. This performance surpassed the previous record of 1:28.71 set earlier this season and secured them a fourth-place finish.

In the 800 freestyle relay, Jay Jensen, Charlie House, Jackson Ahrens, and Gunnar Seversen completed their race in 6:32.60. This time broke the previous record of 6:37.08 and earned them third place.

For the women's team, they placed fourth in both relays. They posted a time of 1:41.18 in the 200 medley relay and concluded with a time of 7:23.81 in the 800 freestyle relay.

In diving events, Ben Stitgen qualified for the finals in the three-meter dive with a preliminary score of 275.55 but finished eighth with a final score of 268.25. Will Francis ended his day in eleventh place with a score of 243.00.

By the end of day one, Milwaukee's men were positioned fourth overall with a total of 79 points while the women were fifth with 60 points.

Day two will feature preliminaries for various swimming events starting at 9:00 a.m., followed by prelims for women's one-meter dive at noon and finals for all events at 4:30 p.m., which will be streamed live on ESPN+.
