Milwaukee swim & dive members earn spots on Horizon League All-Academic Teams

Seven athletes from the Milwaukee swimming and diving teams have been recognized on the 2025 Valeo Horizon League All-Academic team, as announced by the league. Representing the men's team are Ben Lorenz, Jay Jensen, and Andrew Jones, with Jackson Ahrens receiving an honorable mention. On the women's side, Mara Freeman, Janelle Schulz, and Therese Missiaen earned spots on the team.

Ben Lorenz has repeated his achievement from 2024. He is a senior pursuing a degree in physics with a GPA of 3.73. At the Horizon League Championships, he finished fifth in the 50 freestyle and contributed to school records in relay events. Notably, he became the first swimmer in program history to complete the 50 freestyle in under 20 seconds.

Jay Jensen is recognized for his academic performance as a graduate student studying Geographic Information Systems with a GPA of 3.86. He previously completed a bachelor's degree in Conservation and Environmental Science with a GPA of 3.93. This year at the championships, he placed third in the 400 individual medley and helped set a program record in the relay.

Andrew Jones majors in psychology with a GPA of 3.93. His season highlights include setting a school record time of 54.69 in the 100 breaststroke at the league championships.

Jackson Ahrens received an honorable mention as a senior marketing student with a GPA of 3.81.

On the women's team, Mara Freeman maintains a perfect GPA of 4.00 as an accounting major and finished as runner-up in both backstroke events at this year's championships.

Janelle Schulz is completing her senior year as a biomedical engineering major with a GPA of 3.90. She performed well at this year's championship meet and secured two conference titles while setting school records.

Therese Missiaen holds a GPA of 3.96 as she finishes her senior year studying kinesiology.

The recognition extends beyond Milwaukee athletes to include other institutions within the Horizon League for both men’s and women’s teams along with their respective honorable mentions.
