The Milwaukee women's tennis team faced a defeat against Morgan State, losing 4-0 at the United States Tennis Association Center in Orlando, Florida. Despite the loss, the Panthers showed strong competition, particularly in doubles matches and unfinished singles matches.
Head coach Mark Goldin commented on the team's performance: "The team fought through injury once again to compete but fell short. We have one more match tomorrow before conference season starts and I am feeling very confident in the level we are playing going into conference. The key is a good week of rest after this next match to get everyone healthy for conference play."
In doubles, Nadiia Konieva and Sara Simonova secured a victory with a 6-3 win over Aleksandra Evdokimov and Marta Serra Carles. However, Milwaukee could not clinch the doubles point as they lost the other two matches.
During singles play, Morgan State's early wins left several matches unfinished. Konieva was tied at one set each against Hannah Smith at No. 1 singles, while Honoka Yamashita was also tied at No. 6 singles.
Milwaukee will conclude its Florida trip with a match against New Jersey Institute of Technology on Thursday at 5 p.m. CT.
