Seven athletes from the Milwaukee track and field teams have been honored with Valeo Horizon League All-Academic distinctions, as announced by the league on Thursday afternoon.
From the women's team, Cailin Kinas, Isabel Roloff, Dominique Thomas, and Olivia VanZeeland secured spots on the All-Academic squad. Anna Szepieniec received an honorable mention. On the men's side, Cullen Boyle and Bryant McLaughlin were acknowledged as honorable mentions.
Dominique Thomas has earned a place on the team for three consecutive seasons, securing spots for both indoor and outdoor categories each time. Alongside Thomas, Cailin Kinas repeats her appearance from last season's team; both athletes also received CSC Academic All-District honors.
Thomas is a senior nursing major with a 3.84 GPA and has been named to the league's academic honor roll five times. Her indoor season concluded at the Horizon League Championships where she won the 60m dash for the second consecutive year and placed fourth in the 200m dash.
Kinas, a senior nutritional sciences major with a 4.00 GPA, earned her fifth spot on the league's academic roll this past fall. She finished fifth in the mile run at the league championships and won this event at the Tierney Classic earlier in the season.
Olivia VanZeeland holds a 3.91 GPA as a junior kinesiology student and has been on the league's academic honor roll for three semesters. She had an impressive indoor season, winning high jump events three times before securing second place at the league championships with a career-best clearance of 1.75 meters.
Isabel Roloff maintains a perfect 4.00 GPA as a junior accounting student. She secured her place on the All-Academic team after being on the league's academic honor roll for three semesters consecutively. Roloff won pole vault at Badgers Midwest Invite earlier this season and placed second in that event at Tierney Classic.
Anna Szepieniec earned an honorable mention with her 3.77 GPA as a sophomore kinesiology major. This season she set a new league championship meet record in pentathlon with 3,864 points and achieved notable performances in long jump and 60m hurdles within program history.
For men’s honorees Boyle and McLaughlin received All-Academic recognition for their first time.
Bryant McLaughlin was acknowledged as an honorable mention while maintaining his senior finance studies with a 3.31 GPA; he has appeared four times on leagues' academic honor rolls thus far during his tenure here At League Championship Meet: McLaughlin won High Jump & finished fourth Triple Jump earning Co-Outstanding Field Performer Award
Cullen Boyle boasts cumulative GPAs averaging around ~85%, which reflects Junior Architecture Major status plus triple appearances already made toward making sure those rolling academics keep him busy enough! He stood out during Team’s Top Performances involving finishing sixteenth (16th) amongst competitors running through fives-thousand meter races whilst also securing runner-up placement amid another classic meet held back recently where twenty-nine-hundred-meter challenges awaited...
