The Milwaukee women's tennis team concluded their Florida trip with a match against the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) at the United States Tennis Association Center. Despite a 4-0 loss, head coach Mark Goldin expressed satisfaction with the team's performance.
"If you look at the scores, it did not reflect a 4-0 loss," Goldin said. "The entire match was super-close and the girls played incredible today. Most importantly, I feel very confident that we are playing our best tennis going into conference season next week."
The Panthers faced challenges due to injuries and a limited roster but showed resilience in their matches. In doubles play, Emilia Durska and Elisa Rubio put up a strong fight against Paula Menendez Alvarez and Feyza Aydin, losing narrowly 6-4.
In singles competition, several matches were closely contested. Laure Razet lost 7-5, 6-4 at No. 3, while Sara Simonova fell 6-4, 6-3 at No. 4. Nadiia Konieva was leading her match against Laura Wipfli when it was halted at 6-3, 5-6 after NJIT clinched victory.
Looking ahead, the Panthers will return home to begin Horizon League play by hosting Oakland on March 29.
