The Milwaukee track and field teams are preparing to commence their outdoor season this weekend. They will participate in two separate events, the Raleigh Relays and the Redbird Challenge, scheduled from March 28-29.
The Raleigh Relays, hosted by North Carolina State, will take place from Thursday to Saturday. The Panthers will compete on the final two days at the Paul Derr Track & Field Facility on NC State's campus. Events begin each day at 8:30 a.m. Central Time.
The Redbird Challenge, organized by Illinois State, kicks off on Friday with the men's and women's hammer throw as the sole event for that day at 2:00 p.m. Central Time. Remaining field events start Saturday at 10:00 a.m., followed by track events beginning at noon.
In their last competition, the Horizon League Indoor Championships, Milwaukee's men's team secured second place overall with three individual conference titles. Bryant McLaughlin was named Co-Outstanding Field Performer of the Meet after winning the high jump and placing fourth in triple jump. Anthony Buford earned recognition as Freshman Field Athlete of the Year with a strong performance in long jump. Jaelyn Reeves-Lile excelled in sprints, winning the 200m dash and finishing second in the 60m dash. Liam Richards claimed his second league heptathlon title.
On the women's side at the same championships, Milwaukee finished third with three individual titles. Anelise Egge retained her title as Outstanding Running Performer of the Meet and won the mile run while securing runner-up positions in both 800m and 3000m runs. Dominique Thomas reclaimed her title in the 60m dash and placed fourth in 200m dash. Anna Szepieniec set records in pentathlon scoring.
Looking ahead, Milwaukee will next compete on April 5 at La Crosse’s Ashton May Invite starting at noon.
