In his correspondence, Chairman Johnson highlighted the substantial taxpayer funding received by these companies for the production and distribution of COVID-19 vaccines. He mentioned, "These federally-funded vaccines have since been associated with reports of myocarditis, pericarditis, thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome, and Guillain-Barré syndrome."
Furthermore, Johnson recalled past actions by the Department of Health and Human Services to hide records tied to vaccine safety and effectiveness, warning the manufacturers, "Any attempt to obstruct or delay responses to this request will result in compulsory process."
The document requests cover internal and external communications about reports of adverse events, clinical trials, and the testing of vaccines against various SARS-CoV-2 variants. Additionally, the requests include communications between the vaccine manufacturers, the federal government, and social media platforms.
