The Milwaukee track and field teams are preparing for a busy weekend, participating in three different events. These competitions include the Green & White Invite, the Gibson Invitational, and the Phil Esten Challenge.
The Green & White Invite will be hosted at Wisconsin Lutheran College's Raabe Stadium on Thursday. Events for both track and field will commence at 10:00 a.m. (CT).
The Gibson Invitational, a three-day event hosted by Indiana State, will run from Thursday through Saturday at the Gibson Track & Field Complex in Terre Haute, Indiana. The women's heptathlon will start at 9:00 a.m. (CT) on Thursday, followed by the men's decathlon at 9:30 a.m. (CT).
On Friday, the Panthers will participate in the 10,000m run as part of the Phil Esten Challenge at UW-La Crosse. This event is scheduled for 4:25 p.m. (CT) at Veterans Memorial Field in La Crosse.
Last weekend, the Panther women competed in the Duke and Marquette Invitationals with notable performances. At the Duke Invitational, Cailin Kinas set a new school record in the 3000m steeplechase, completing it in 10:49.51. Natalie Block also excelled, earning Horizon League Runner of the Week after finishing the 400m hurdles in 57.84, a leading time in the Horizon League and 25th in NCAA Division I this season.
In the heptathlon, Anna Szepieniec earned 5,052 points, ranking second on the program's all-time leaderboard. Kallie Volk, while winning her heptathlon group, secured fourth place on the leaderboard with 4,941 points.
During the Marquette Invitational, the team of Isabel Roloff, Kalea Weyenberg, Lilly Wepking, and Angelica Refinski claimed the top position in the 4x100m relay with a time of 47.28. Individually, Roloff won the 100m dash in 12.25, and Weyenberg took the 200m dash in 25.60. Rachel Helm and Ally Schmitz finished first and second in the 800m run.
On the men's side, Liam Richards distinguished himself at the Duke Invitational by winning his decathlon group and moving up to second on the program's leaderboard. Karsten Grundahl and Anthony Buford achieved early-season bests in the 800m and 400m events, respectively.
At the Marquette meet, Iyimi Fagbamiye won the 110m hurdles, earning Horizon League Runner of the Week honors. Divine Aniamaka led in the triple jump with a distance of 15.01m. In the high jump, Caden Thomas and Collin Schulz both cleared 1.95m, with Thomas finishing first.
Further Milwaukee victories included Jeremiah Johnson in the hammer throw and Aiden Janke in the shot put. Nate Griepentrog and Trey Meier completed the victories with wins in the 800m run and the 3000m steeplechase, respectively.
Milwaukee's next competitions include the Drake Alternative hosted by UW-Whitewater on April 25 and the Fighting Illini Twilight in Champaign, Illinois, the following day.
