Milwaukee's track and field athlete, Olivia VanZeeland, has been named the Horizon League Co-Field Athlete of the Week. This recognition follows her record-breaking performance at the Gibson Invitational held at Indiana State.
VanZeeland cleared a height of 1.80 meters in the high jump, tying for first place at the event. This jump ties for the best in the Horizon League and ranks 21st in NCAA Division I this season.
This is VanZeeland's second award this year, with her first recognition coming during the indoor season on January 14. The Panthers track and field team has now accumulated five Athlete of the Week awards this outdoor season, adding up to a total of sixteen awards, including indoor competitions.
The Panthers team is scheduled to compete in two events this weekend. On Friday, they will participate in the UW-Whitewater's Drake Alternative at Rex Foster Track Complex, beginning at 11:00 a.m. The following day, they will travel to Champaign, Illinois, for the Fighting Illini Twilight hosted at Demijiran Park at 1:00 p.m.
