Amar Augillard from Zion, Illinois, has joined the Milwaukee men's basketball team and will play for the Panthers next season, as confirmed by head coach Bart Lundy.
"Amar is an extremely talented player that we recruited as he was coming out of Triton College in Illinois two years ago," Lundy stated. "He was the National Junior College Player of the Year and led his team to the National Championship game."
In the last season, Augillard was at Fresno State, where the 6-foot-5, 220-pound guard averaged 13.3 points and 2.5 rebounds per game for the Bulldogs.
"Amar is one of the best individual scorers I've ever seen in junior college basketball," Lundy noted. "He is a player that wants to be at Milwaukee and wants to help us get to the NCAA Tournament. Our fans will love Amar and we are excited to add him to our program."
Before joining Fresno State, Augillard played at Triton College in River Grove, Illinois, where he was recognized as the 2024 National Junior College Athletic Association Division I Player of the Year. He averaged 22.7 points per game and was ranked second in the nation for total points (841), field goals made (296), and three-point field goals made (122). He guided the Trojans to the Division I National Championship game and helped achieve an overall record of 34-3 for the season.
Augillard's accomplishments include NJCAA DI First Team All-American, Region 4 Division I Player of the Year, Region 4 Division I First Team selection, Region 4 Division I Tournament MVP, and a position on the NJCAA DI Championship All-Tournament Team.
During his 37 appearances that season, he scored over 20 points in 24 games, had nine games with over 30 points, and achieved two games with more than 40 points, with a career-high of 46 points against Truman College.
Before Triton, Augillard spent two seasons with Georgia Southern University. In his freshman year, he redshirted, then played 11 games for the Eagles, scoring 33 points, grabbing 15 rebounds, and making six assists, with an 83 percent success rate from the free throw line and a 54 percent shooting percentage.
During his time at Zion Benton High School, Augillard received back-to-back Illinois Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA) Class 4A All-State Team honors. As a senior, he averaged 28 points and 12 rebounds per game and ended his high school career with 2,174 points, becoming the second-highest scorer in school history, including four games with more than 40 points.
