Milwaukee track & field competes at UW-La Crosse final qualifier

The Milwaukee track and field team participated in the UW-La Crosse Final Qualifier on Wednesday evening. Anna Szepieniec led the team with a new personal best in the long jump, achieving 5.99 meters to secure first place.

On the men's side, Anthony Buford delivered a strong performance, securing fourth place with a 7.01-meter jump. Nate Griepentrog achieved his career-best time in the 1500 meters at 3:52.60, placing him eighth on the program's all-time leaderboard.

In high jump events, Bryant McLaughlin cleared 1.99 meters for fourth place, while Caden Thomas reached 1.94 meters to finish sixth. Kallie Volk represented the women in high jump by clearing 1.59 meters and taking fifth place.

Anthony Kessler competed in both sprints; he finished the 100-meter dash in 11.03 seconds and returned for the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.47 seconds. EJ Kruse joined Kessler in these events, completing the 100-meter dash in 11.16 seconds and the 200-meter dash in 22.31 seconds.

Next week, the NCAA will release its official list of regional qualifiers who will advance to compete at the NCAA West Regional Preliminary Rounds from May 28-31 at Texas A&M's E.B Cushing Stadium in College Station, Texas.
