Children in Milwaukee can receive free meals at select Milwaukee Public Schools sites this summer. The program is open to all children aged 18 and under. Meals, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner, will be available but may vary by location. It is required that meals be consumed on-site.
The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) funds these meals through the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and is administered by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. This initiative aims to provide nutritious meals during the summer when school meals are not available. Additionally, individuals over 18 who are identified as mentally or physically disabled by a public educational agency and participate in a nonprofit school program during the regular school year may also qualify for free meals.
Meals are offered without discrimination based on race, color, national origin, age, gender, or disability. Families can find more information about meal locations and schedules at mpsmke.com/summermeals.
