Milwaukee Public Schools is preparing for the start of the new academic year, with all students scheduled to return on Tuesday, September 2, 2025. The district has provided families with several resources and reminders to help ensure a smooth transition back to school.

Families can view the full school calendar starting August 1 by visiting the district’s School Calendars webpage. For those who still need to enroll their children, information is available at mpsmke.com/enrollnow or in person at MPS Central Services, located at 5225 W. Vliet St., open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The district emphasizes the importance of regular attendance from the first day. “This year, make attendance a priority! We want to see every student in class on time every day. Excellent attendance in the first few weeks of school starts good habits that will carry through the school year. Every day counts!” according to Milwaukee Public Schools.

Supply lists for grades K3 through 8 are available on the Supply Lists webpage, while high school students will receive specific instructions about classroom supplies directly from their teachers.

All students will continue to receive free breakfast and lunch during school days. Additional details can be found on the MPS Nutrition Services webpage.

Bus route information will be mailed out prior to the first day of classes. Families also have access to WheresTheBus, an app that provides real-time tracking of student buses and is compatible with smartphones, tablets, PCs, and iPads. The app requires families to have a Campus Parent portal account; setup instructions are available on the MPS website at WheresTheBus.

“Learn more and read how to access the app on the MPS website at WheresTheBus,” states Milwaukee Public Schools.

For further questions or assistance, families are encouraged to contact their child’s teacher, principal, or school office.

“We’re looking forward to a great school year!” Milwaukee Public Schools added.
