Nic Diana, a goalkeeper for the Milwaukee men's soccer team, has been recognized as the Horizon League Under Armour Defensive Player of the Week. The announcement was made by the league office on Monday.
Diana played a key role in securing shutouts for Milwaukee in two recent matches. He helped the Panthers achieve a 0-0 draw against St. Thomas, making two saves during that match. Later in the week, he recorded a career-high eight saves in a 1-0 victory over IU Indy.
Following these performances, Diana now holds a goals-against average of 0.86 overall, which is currently the lowest in the league. In conference play, his goals-against average stands at 0.00 after two games.
This marks Diana’s first Defensive Player of the Week honor this season and is his second career award; he previously received similar recognition while playing for Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons last year. He is also the second member of Milwaukee's team to receive weekly honors this fall, with Fernando Pirry earning Offensive Player of the Week on September 15.
