The Milwaukee Panthers cross country teams are set for a busy weekend with two competitions on their schedule. The teams will participate in the Joe Piane Invitational at Notre Dame on Friday, October 3, and then compete at Wisconsin Lutheran's Warrior Invitational on Saturday, October 4.
At the Joe Piane Invitational, held at Burke Golf & Cross Country Course in Notre Dame, Indiana, the women's team will start with a 5K race at 8:50 a.m. Central Time. The men's team follows with an 8K race at 11:30 a.m. Central Time.
The next day, Milwaukee will be at Greenfield Park in West Allis, Wisconsin for Wisconsin Lutheran's Warrior Invitational. The men's 8K event begins at 10:00 a.m., followed by the women's 6K race at 11:00 a.m.
On the women’s side, Anelise Egge continues to lead after finishing third out of 92 runners during Purdue Fort Wayne's Rumble in the Fort meet. This was her second top-three finish this season and sixth overall in her career with Milwaukee. Rachel Helm and Anna Gallagher have also played significant roles for the Panthers; Helm recently improved her previous best time by forty seconds in the 6K event, while Gallagher finished twenty-fifth (22:39.1) and recorded her fastest time since her freshman year.
For the men’s team, Cullen Boyle, Sam Schreiber, and Will Whiteis have been leading performers. At Rumble in the Fort, all three placed within the top twenty—Schreiber took thirteenth place, Boyle fourteenth place, and Whiteis achieved sixteenth place along with his career-best time of 25:18.3 for an 8K race.
Additionally, Harper Fahey (26:19.3) and Talon Gamez (26:35.3) both posted personal records during that same meet.
Looking ahead on their calendar is participation in the Bradley Pink Classic hosted by Bradley University on Friday, October 17 at Newman Golf Course in Peoria, Illinois.
