Later that day, Johnson continued his criticism by naming specific individuals: "This shutdown is being driven by Chuck Schumer and the radical left. Senator Ron Johnson has represented Wisconsin in the U.S. Senate since first defeating Russ Feingold in 2010 with 51.9% of the vote compared to Feingold's 47%. He secured re-election against Feingold again in 2016 and narrowly defeated Mandela Barnes in 2022 with a margin of approximately one percent.
