The Milwaukee Panthers men's cross country team competed at the Joe Piane Invitational hosted by Notre Dame on Friday. The event took place at the Burke Golf & Cross Country Course, with 21 teams participating.
Milwaukee finished 16th overall, scoring 377 points. The Panthers faced several conference opponents, including Green Bay, IU Indy, and Purdue Fort Wayne.
Cullen Boyle led the team with a 17th-place finish out of 167 runners. He set a personal best in the 8K race with a time of 24:49.8. Sam Schreiber also performed well for Milwaukee, finishing in 47th place with a time of 25:23.2.
Head coach Andrew Basler commented on their efforts: "The men had some highlights on the day. Cullen and Sam continue to step up to the challenge and race strongly."
Harper Fahey achieved his own personal record by placing 90th with a time of 26:04.8, improving his previous best by 14 seconds.
"Harper keeps building confidence with every race and is becoming a staple in our top 5," Basler said.
The Panthers will next compete at Wisconsin Lutheran's Warrior Invitational on Saturday morning at Greenfield Park in West Allis, Wisconsin. The men's race is scheduled for 10 a.m., followed by the women's race at 11 a.m.
