Medical College of Wisconsin issued the following announcement on June 11.
Dr. Colleen Lawton, professor, and vice-chair in the department of radiation oncology has been named a recipient of the 2021 ASTRO Distinguished Gold Medal Award. The Gold Medal is ASTRO’s (American Association for Radiation Oncology) highest honor given to members who have made outstanding contributions to the field of radiation oncology through research, teaching, patient care, and service. Dr. Lawton is an ASTRO fellow and has been extremely active in the ASTRO organization, serving on numerous committees as well as in the leadership roles of vice president, president, and board chair. In addition to her service to ASTRO, Dr. Lawton has published extensively within her area of research in prostate cancer and served as the radiation oncology resident program director in the department of Radiation Oncology for over 25 years. Dr. Lawton will receive the Gold Medal at the ASTRO Annual Meeting, October 24-27, 2021 in Chicago.
