Employ Milwaukee, the Milwaukee County Workforce Development Board, recently announced the launch of an occupational training program that will provide Milwaukee students with free training in the retail banking industry.
In the new BankWork$ skill development program, participants will receive eight weeks of training in retail banking careers.
"In partnership with @MilwaukeeEmploy and the Wisconsin Bankers Association, BankWork$ offers an eight-week training program in the financial services industry beginning Sept. 28 for job seekers 18 and older," Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barret wrote in a Sept. 1 Twitter post.
The program is looking for young adults from low-income or minority groups to help put them on a career path to well-paying jobs in banking and financial services. Participants must be at least 18 years old, possess a high school diploma or GED, basic computer skills and previous experience with customer service and cash handling.
Classes will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 28 and will be held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Classes will alternate between two weeks of in-person classroom sessions followed by two weeks of remote online classes through Zoom, then repeat. Social distancing and masks will be required for in-person classes.
