After nearly two decades, Milwaukee Recreation's Daddy/Daughter Dance remains a beloved tradition in the city. Each year, numerous daughters, fathers, and father-figures gather for an evening dedicated to celebrating their relationships.
This year's event promises to be particularly special as it will take place at the newly revamped Baird Center in downtown Milwaukee. Attendees can look forward to a beautiful city view, a delightful dinner, a large dance floor, and many photo opportunities.
The dance is a significant event for many participants. A previous attendee shared their enthusiasm: “I look forward to it every year,” adding that dressing up and seeing familiar faces in the community are highlights of the occasion.
One daughter expressed her excitement about spending quality time with her father: “I get to spend time with my dad, which is really important to me because I don’t get this all the time.”
Beyond creating lasting memories with loved ones, the dance also strengthens community ties. Past attendees emphasize its importance for connecting with other families. One father remarked on its value: “I just feel like it’s very important for the community, especially for the dads, because it just gives everyone a chance to come together.”
The event welcomes any father-figure looking to partake in this cherished tradition.
