The Milwaukee Bucks recently became the first NBA team to be invited to the White House since 2016 following their 2021 NBA Championship win.
WISN 12 News reported that on Nov. 8, President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff welcomed the Bucks to the White House to congratulate them on winning the 2021 Championship. The last time a team was invited to the White House was in 2016 when the Cleveland Chevaliers met with former President Barack Obama.
"This afternoon, I’m hosting the Milwaukee Bucks at the White House," Biden wrote in a Nov. 8 Twitter post. "I’m looking forward to celebrating their 2021 NBA Championship and their work off the court to move our nation forward."
The Bucks will be honored for winning the championship title, their first in 50 years, by defeating the Phoenix Suns in a six-game series.
"To all the players, that's what you represent for so many people — pride and decency," Biden said. "You represented yourself and your families, your organizations and a great American city by staying true to who you are."
The team posted lots of pictures touring the grounds and sharing their excitement for the opportunity and what it means for the league and their team.
