Milwaukee District Attorney John Chisholm could soon find himself on the hotseat.
With crime on the rise seemingly everywhere and news of San Francisco's progressive District Attorney Chesa Boudin recently being recalled, a growing number of people are speculating that Chisholm could be the next of the liberal-minded, George Soros-backed district attorneys across the country to be relieved of their duties.
"The political groups affiliated with billionaire George Soros helped elect 75 'social justice' prosecutors in U.S. cities that, for the most part, have incurred major crime spikes, according to a new report provided by Secrets," Newsmax recently posted on Twitter.
The Washington Free Beacon reported that over the last decade Soros has pumped upwards of $40 million into his efforts, placing a large number of liberal prosecutors in half of the country’s largest jurisdictions. Many of these areas are now overrun with crime.
Earlier this month, the Law Enforcement Legal Defense Fund (LELDF) noted that the contributions were made through direct contributions, political action committees (PACs) and other third-party entities.
“The June report discloses the power progressive criminal prosecutors wield in the American justice system, as well as the potential effects of that influence on crime,” Jason Johnson, LELDF president, told the Beacon. "Our study shows for the first time, Soros's funding and installation of these district attorneys is fundamentally dismantling the criminal justice system as we know it."
In San Francisco, irate voters couldn’t wait to strike back, with 60% casting ballots on June 7 to recall Boudin after just over two years on the job.
While Chisholm has been in office for the last 15 years working to change the city’s approach to incarceration, he, Boudin and Philadelphia’s Larry Krasner are known to have recently mimicked the same voice. In November 2021, the Washington Times reported that Chisholm used Twitter to cheer on other Soros-endorsed district attorneys.
The playbooks of Chisholm, Boudin and Philadelphia's Larry Krasner have a few things in common, the Times said. George Soros funded their campaigns, their cities are roiled with crime, and they do not prosecute criminal cases, “citing what they claim are the evils of past mass incarceration policies and the effects of racism on the criminal justice system."
Across Wisconsin in 2021, Wisconsin Public Radio reported that there were 315 homicides, which was 100 more killings than in 2020 and a 70% increase from 2019.
So far in 2022, Milwaukee has seen 92 homicides—20 more than at this time last year.
