President Joe Biden is scheduled to be in Milwaukee for Labor Day and Gov. Tony Evers (D-WI) is hoping to make the most of his appearance.

“We’re 70 days away from election day and only a few days away from our end-of-month deadline,” Evers posted on Twitter. “Our campaign is ramping up and we need your support to beat Tim Michels in the fall.”

While all the final details surrounding Biden’s visit have yet to be made public, WISN.com reports the Milwaukee Area Labor Council has announced the organization is honored to welcome him to town at the Henry Maier Festival Grounds from 11 am to 5 pm, with the event being free to attend to all.

While any appearance or speeches from the President during Milwaukee’s Laborfest will not be directly political, history shows such moments can go a long way toward setting the scene for the state’s midterm elections in just two months. In 2014, Barack Obama also spoke at Milwaukee’s Laborfest at the same point and time.

Joining Biden in the spotlight will be Evers, who has confirmed that he will be on hand despite reports that he has lobbied against a presidential visit earlier.

Evers has previously described his relationship with Biden as “good,” adding he is looking forward to the visit.

"He's the president of the United States,” he added. “We have a good relationship and so I'm looking forward to it.”

Biden is also slated to spend part of the day in Pittsburgh on Labor Day.
