The Wisconsin Summer EBT (Electronic Benefit Transfer) program is an income-based initiative designed to assist families in purchasing food during the summer months when schools are closed. The program offers a benefit of $120 per qualifying child for the summer, targeting families whose children typically rely on school-based free or reduced-price meals.
Families that meet the income criteria can apply for these benefits through the Wisconsin Department of Health Services FoodShare page at dhs.wisconsin.gov/foodshare/index.htm. Additionally, households participating in W-2, the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR), or an income-based Medicaid program may also qualify for Summer EBT if they apply and are approved by August 29, 2024.
Applications for this summer's Summer EBT will close on August 29, 2024. It is important to note that this information specifically applies to children attending MPS (Milwaukee Public Schools). For children attending non-MPS schools, different steps might be required. Further details can be found at https://www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/forwardhealth/summerebt.htm.
Receiving Summer EBT benefits does not impact other assistance programs such as local summer meal programs. Information about nearby meal sites is available at wisummerfood.org, the USDA SUN Meals webpage, or by calling 211. Texting FOOD to 304-304 is another option for obtaining information.
Participation in the Summer EBT program will not affect a child's or family's immigration status.
