Milwaukee Recreation offers free fall wellness programs

Milwaukee Recreation is offering a variety of free community wellness programs this fall, encouraging participants to enjoy the outdoors, try new fitness routines, and strengthen social bonds. Registration opens on Aug. 8 at 10 a.m. for Milwaukee residents and on Aug. 15 at 10 a.m. for non-residents.

The MilWALKee Walking Club invites participants to explore local parks or coffee shops, walking up to four miles each session from Sept. 10 - Nov. 14. Programs are available for ages 18 and up.

In the Lindsay Heights neighborhood, an indoor walking program provides a cardio workout in a group setting each week.

Yoga classes focus on relaxation and meditation, suitable for individuals with medical clearance if necessary.

Outdoor bootcamp classes offer total body workouts including strength, cardio, and stretching exercises.

Outdoor yoga sessions aim to increase body awareness and flexibility while connecting with nature.

Zumba classes in the park feature dance steps set to Latin music for all fitness levels.

A "Glow with the Flow" yoga class combines breath work with movement under black lights and glow sticks.

Functional fitness training prepares participants for daily physical activities such as bending, lifting, and squatting.

Nordic Walking uses specially designed poles for a full-body cardiovascular exercise suitable for all ages and fitness levels.

Guided meditation sessions by Lake Michigan focus on mindful breathing exercises during sunrise.

A healthy living program targets cancer survivors and their caregivers with nutrition education, cooking demos, and physical activity sessions twice a week.

Sound healing classes led by skilled practitioners use melodic instruments to offer transformative experiences in nature.

Meditative walking journeys guide participants through mindfulness techniques to enhance present-moment awareness.

Restorative yoga emphasizes relaxation through passive stretches suitable for any skill level.

Breathwork classes in forest settings aim to harmonize mind and body with nature's ambiance under experienced guidance.

Mindfulness classes for children aged 10-18 cultivate inner calm through age-appropriate meditation practices enhancing overall wellbeing.
