Milwaukee women's tennis players earn Academic All-District honors

Three members of the Milwaukee women's tennis team have been recognized for their academic and athletic achievements. Babette Burgersdijk, Nadiia Konieva, and Sara Simonova were named to the 2023-24 Academic All-District Tennis Team by the College Sports Communicators.

The award marks a second-time recognition for Burgersdijk, who is pursuing majors in Human Resources and Marketing with a GPA of 3.892. She was also named Second Team All-Horizon League this season after achieving 18 victories. Burgersdijk's academic accolades include being an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar Athlete and a member of both the Horizon League Academic Honor Roll and the 2023 Horizon League Valeo All-Academic Team.

Konieva, a Psychology major with a GPA of 3.957, earned First Team All-Horizon League honors and was last season's Freshman of the Year. She achieved a singles record of 17-9 and a doubles record of 17-8 this year. Her academic achievements include being an ITA Scholar Athlete, a member of the 2024 Horizon League Valeo All-Academic Team, and regularly appearing on the Horizon League Academic Honor Roll.

Simonova, studying Political Science with a GPA of 3.980, recorded 23 victories this season across singles and doubles matches. She is also recognized as an ITA Scholar Athlete and has been honored on both the 2024 Horizon League Valeo All-Academic Team and Horizon League Academic Honor Roll.
