Milwaukee track team prepares for dual weekend meets

The Milwaukee track and field team is preparing for two competitions this weekend as they progress through their outdoor season. The Panthers will first travel to Terre Haute, Indiana, on Thursday for a three-day meet hosted by Indiana State. On Saturday, another group of athletes will participate in the Green & White Invite, organized by Wisconsin Lutheran College in Milwaukee.

The Gibson Invitational begins on Thursday morning at 10:00 AM with multi events including the men's decathlon and women's heptathlon. Friday's schedule includes hammer throw, javelin, and 5000m races in the afternoon. Saturday's events start with the women's 100m trials at 11:00 AM and conclude with the men's 4x400m relay around 6:10 PM.

The Green & White Invite starts at 9:00 AM on Saturday with the men's hammer throw and women's javelin. Running events commence at 10:30 AM with the 10,000m race. Like the Gibson Invitational, it concludes with the men's 4x400m relay.

Previously, Milwaukee competed in three meets last weekend: Marquette Invitational, Bryan Clay Invitational, and Gary Wieneke Memorial.

Angelica Refinski excelled at the Marquette Invitational by winning both the 100m dash in 12.40 seconds and the 200m dash in 25.53 seconds. She was also part of Milwaukee's victorious 4x100m relay team.

At Bryan Clay Invitational, Natalie Block broke a program record in the 400m hurdles with a time of 58.67 seconds to secure third place.

Will Mortimer won first place in triple jump at Gary Wieneke Memorial with a distance of 14.74 meters and placed seventh in long jump after recording a leap of 7.23 meters.

Block was recognized as Horizon League's Outdoor Track & Field Women's Runner of the Week following her performances last weekend. Besides her record-breaking achievement in hurdles, she secured fourth place in the 100m hurdles clocking at13.52 seconds leading conference standings for both events earning her second Runner of Week honor during outdoor season.
