Competing at the IUPUI House of Champions meet in Indianapolis, the Milwaukee Panthers' men's and women's swimming and diving teams improved their performances on the second day, achieving podium finishes in three events.
Jay Jensen secured a second-place finish in the men's 400 IM with a time of 3:56.93, marking the only championship podium for Milwaukee's men's team. Erika Thomas achieved third place in the women's 400 IM, finishing with a time of 4:26.11.
The women's 800-yard freestyle relay team, consisting of Thomas, Janelle Schulz, Grace Hudson, and Audrey Dixon, also reached the podium by securing third place with a time of 7:30.23.
Nik Wheeler finished fifth in the 100 fly event. In other results, Zach McClellan and Hayden Christiansen placed 12th and 13th respectively in the consolation final. Lilly Nesson was fifth in the women's 400 IM while Johanna Edgren finished 13th overall in her event.
Nhia Caras placed 11th overall in her event and Allie Buytendorp won the D final of the women's 100 fly. Katherine Hackett topped the bonus final of the women's 400 IM. Julie Rebek excelled on the one-meter board by winning her consolation final with a score of 269.65.
In men's events, Yassin Dwidar won his bonus final of the men's 400 IM followed closely by Vince Chiapetta who placed second. Schulz took fifth place overall in the women’s 200 free while Hudson added to her accolades with a runner-up finish in another event.
Andrew Jones finished sixth overall in the men’s 100 breaststroke with Hanna DeGrace taking a respectable position on behalf of Milwaukee's women competitors.
The Panthers will continue competing tomorrow as they look to improve their standings further before concluding this meet until January next year when they face off against Green Bay.
