On Monday, the Horizon League announced its Player of the Week selections for the eighth week of the 2024 season. Milwaukee defensive specialist Kara Erdmann received recognition for her outstanding performance.

Erdmann set a record with a 47-dig performance on Saturday during a five-set match against Wright State. This achievement established both a new Horizon League record and a Milwaukee record for digs in a single match.

The previous Horizon League record was set in 1989 by Jessica Taylor of Butler, who recorded 45 digs against UIC on September 12. The Milwaukee record was formerly held by Becky Peters, who achieved 41 digs in a non-conference match against George Washington on September 15, 2005. Another notable performance came from Lauren Felsing, who tallied 40 digs against Green Bay on September 25, 2009.

Erdmann's recent accomplishment is also the highest dig total by any Division I student-athlete in 2024. It surpasses the previous high of 45 digs recorded by Jada Willis of Drake against Bradley on October 18 and Peyton DeJardin of California against Syracuse on October 12.

This season, Erdmann appears three times in the top-20 for single-match dig performances. Her other notable matches include a 38-dig effort against Northern Kentucky on October 12 and a 36-dig match against Illinois State on September 13. She ranks third in Division I with a total of 450 digs and fourth in digs per set at an average of 5.42.

In addition to her record-setting performance, Erdmann contributed significantly to Milwaukee's five-set win over Wright State with a total of 30 digs. She also added 11 assists and successfully handled 42 receptions out of the 46 serving attempts directed at her, contributing to the Panthers' results for the week.

This marks Erdmann's first career recognition by the Horizon League and is also Milwaukee's first honor this season.

Milwaukee will next face Marquette on Tuesday evening at the Al McGuire Center with a start time scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
