Milwaukee's volleyball team secured a decisive victory against IU Indianapolis on Friday, marking their first three-set win of the season and maintaining an undefeated record in Horizon League play. The Panthers showcased a strong offensive performance with a .330 hitting percentage and only six errors.
Madi Malone and Natalie Schmitz led Milwaukee's attack with eight kills each, supported by Rachel Scott and Bri Geurts. Josie Johnson contributed 14 assists, while Milica Tomic added 12. Head coach Susie Johnson praised the team's balanced offense and efficient execution.
Despite recording just three blocks for points, Milwaukee effectively disrupted IU Indianapolis' offense, limiting them to a .075 hitting percentage and forcing 25 errors. Kara Erdmann topped the defensive effort with 10 digs.
The match began with Milwaukee pulling away late in the first set, thanks to a six-point run initiated by Geurts. In the second set, a 10-1 rally helped secure a commanding lead before Geurts sealed it at 25-14. The third set saw another offensive surge from Milwaukee, culminating in back-to-back kills by Schmitz and Scott.
Kati Goba delivered four service aces for Milwaukee, while Lakyn Graves contributed four kills and two blocks. Alexis Lewis added two kills and one block to the team's effort.
IU Indianapolis was led by Maia Long and Elle Patterson with seven kills each. Grace Purichia provided 20 assists, Carly Doros led defensively with three blocks, and Jordyn Pax recorded 13 digs.
The teams are scheduled to face off again at the Klotsche Center on Saturday afternoon.
