The Milwaukee women's soccer team clinched the Horizon League regular-season title with a commanding 5-0 win over Cleveland State at Engelmann Stadium. This victory marks their fourth consecutive league title and ninth in the past decade. The Panthers, now holding a record of 9-6-2 overall and 8-0-1 in the Horizon League, dominated the second half by scoring four goals against the Vikings, who are 2-14-1 overall and 2-8-0 in league play.
Head coach Kevin Boyd expressed relief that the title was secured before their final road game, saying, "It's especially nice to have that decided before we go into our final game on the road." He highlighted how this achievement eased pressure on the team during "Senior Day," allowing more players to participate.
The match extended Milwaukee's perfect October run to five straight wins and shutouts, outscoring opponents 16-0 during this streak. Their unbeaten streak in regular-season Horizon League play now stands at 28 games (22 wins, six draws). The team remains undefeated against Cleveland State with a record of 25 wins and one draw.
Key performances included two goals each from Kayla Rollins and Molly O'Regan, while Ellie Rebmann and Zoey Pagels both contributed two assists. On "Senior Day," Rollins nearly opened scoring early but was denied by the crossbar. O'Regan eventually broke the deadlock at the 33:36 mark after receiving passes from Pagels and Rebmann.
Boyd acknowledged Cleveland State's strong first-half performance: "First of all, they played quite well," he said. However, Milwaukee adjusted in the second half, leading to four additional goals.
Rollins initiated second-half scoring by heading a corner kick from Elizabeth Reece in the 49th minute. Jenni Andjelic added another goal shortly after by capitalizing on a turnover near midfield. Rollins secured her brace with a goal in the 66th minute from another Pagels assist. O'Regan concluded scoring by netting her second goal at the 71:06 mark off an assist from Rebmann.
Goalkeeper Parker Donahugh made three crucial saves late in the game to maintain her shutout streak of over 465 minutes across five matches.
The Panthers took over twenty shots for their eighth time in nine games, finishing with a shot advantage of 21 to Cleveland State's 17. Despite conceding seven corners to Cleveland State's eleven total for both teams combined, Milwaukee's offensive efforts were led by Rollins' six shots and five points (two goals, one assist), followed closely by O'Regan's four shots.
The team honored seniors Parker Donahugh (#1), Stephanie Recinos (#3), Cate Cullison (#6), Elizabeth Reece (#7), Lainey Higgins (#13), Josie Kelderman (#14), Molly O'Regan (#17), Kayla Rollins (#18), and Senya Meurer (#26) before kickoff.
Milwaukee will conclude its regular season against Green Bay on Wednesday evening at Green Bay. A win would secure them sole possession of the league title. The match is scheduled for a 7 p.m start time.
