The Milwaukee women's soccer team achieved a 2-0 victory over IU Indianapolis at Michael Carroll Stadium on Sunday. The Panthers, with a record of 8-6-2 overall and 7-0-1 in the Horizon League, secured their win with goals from Emily Petring and Kayla Rollins.
"Nice win for us on the road – so important to get those road wins, especially second game of a weekend, which really tests a team's character and resolve," head coach Kevin Boyd said. "We played very well … 30 shots to six; six corners to zero – we really dominated the game."
Petring scored late in the first half, while Rollins added another goal early in the second half. This marked Rollins' 10th goal of the season, leading the Horizon League.
"Their goalkeeper was outstanding," Boyd commented on IU Indianapolis' defensive efforts. "She came out in the 75th minute and all of us coaches were like, 'hey keeper, well done'. She had 12 saves by herself and kept them in it for sure."
Despite multiple attempts throughout the match, including close calls from Lainey Higgins and Zoey Pagels, it was not until Petring's volley at the 42:51 mark that Milwaukee took the lead. Rollins extended this lead with her goal in the 54th minute.
Milwaukee's defense also performed strongly. Goalkeeper Parker Donahugh achieved her fourth consecutive shutout, extending her scoreless streak to over 375 minutes.
The Panthers dominated statistically with a total of 30 shots compared to IU Indianapolis' six. The team now holds an unbeaten streak of 27 games (21-0-6) in regular-season Horizon League play.
Looking ahead, Milwaukee will face Cleveland State next Saturday as they conclude their regular season home schedule on "Senior Day."
