Kayla Rollins scored the decisive goal in the 62nd minute, leading the Milwaukee women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Oakland at Engelmann Stadium. Parker Donahugh secured her third consecutive shutout for Milwaukee.

"Compliments to Oakland – I thought they defended exceptionally well, I thought their goalkeeper was good on the night, I thought their defense made it really difficult for us and it was hard to get through them," said head coach Kevin Boyd. "I mean, 20 shots to seven, 12 corners to zero, and we get a goal off a set piece. I really thought Oakland played well and made it difficult."

The Panthers (4-6-1, 3-0 Horizon League) maintained their unbeaten streak against the Golden Grizzlies (2-8-2, 1-2 Horizon League), extending it to 17 matches with a record of 13 wins and four draws.

"That's one of those tough games, that's one of those quintessential soccer games … where you outshoot your opponent, have the ball and all of the chances and often times, that could be lopsided the wrong way," Boyd added. "I mean we have all seen that, so I was glad we got the goal."

Despite having nine first-half corner kicks and holding a shot advantage of 9-3 at halftime, Milwaukee remained in a scoreless match until Rollins converted a free kick from 19 yards out after Lola Wojcik was fouled near the penalty area.

Milwaukee finished with 20 total shots but failed to secure a second goal due to five saves by Oakland's Julia Zangerl and an additional team save.

"All in all, I liked what we did," Boyd stated. "We just need to be cleaner in our finishing and what we are doing, but I liked what we were trying to do. We are happy – we got our three points, we got the win, we got the shutout which is something we have been focusing on."

Lola Wojcik had an early opportunity seven minutes into the game but missed due to a deflection by an Oakland defender. Rollins nearly scored again shortly after her first goal but was denied by another save.

Jenni Andjelic attempted two late-game goals; however, her efforts were thwarted when one hit the post and another was saved.

Milwaukee ended with advantages in shots (20-7), shots on goal (7-4), possession (57%), and corner kicks (12). Both Andjelic and Rollins led with five shot attempts each.

The Panthers will next face Detroit Mercy at home on Sunday at 1 p.m., as Detroit currently holds second place in Horizon League standings with seven points.
