The deadline for eighth-grade students and their families to enroll in a high school within the Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) district is approaching. Enrollment for the 2025-26 academic year will close on Monday, November 4, 2024.
MPS offers nearly 30 high school options, catering to diverse student needs and career aspirations. The district provides programs in fields such as technology, engineering, arts, music, college preparation, skilled trades, manufacturing, agriculture, culinary arts, hospitality and tourism.
Students are encouraged to explore these options now to make informed decisions about this critical transition. To assist with the selection process, families can visit the "How to Select a School" section on the MPS website. There they can search by location or program. For enrollment submissions, an online form is available on the High School Enrollment page.
Families new to MPS must provide specific documents: a seventh-grade report card, attendance record from that year, and standardized test scores. Additionally, all students need to submit an essay based on a reading selection. Current MPS eighth-graders will complete this requirement during October at their schools and do not need to upload forms with their application.
For further assistance or inquiries regarding enrollment procedures or requirements, contact the Department of Student Services at (414) 475-8159.
