The Milwaukee Panthers secured a decisive victory over Portland State with a 91-74 win at the UWM Panther Arena. AJ McKee led the scoring with 21 points, while Themus Fulks contributed 20 points and six assists. Jamichael Stillwell and Darius Duffy each achieved double-doubles, helping the Panthers maintain control throughout the game.
Head coach Bart Lundy praised his team's performance against a high-scoring opponent. "They (Portland State) are a good team and I like how they play," Lundy stated. He commended his players for handling Portland State's pressure effectively, especially given their limited preparation time due to travel. "These guys, in a one-day prep because of our travel, did a great job being able to go multiple press breaks," he added.
Duffy delivered an impressive performance with 15 points and 10 rebounds, all field goals scored via slam dunks. Lundy acknowledged Duffy's contribution: "Can't say enough about how well (Darius) Duffy played... he really stepped up today on both ends of the floor."
Despite Shane Nowell leading Portland State with 14 points, Milwaukee's defense held their opponents significantly below their average scoring rate of 102.7 points per game. The Panthers also outperformed Portland State in various aspects, including shooting efficiency and rebounds.
The Panthers' next challenge is against Wofford on Saturday as part of the Cream City Challenge.
