Jamichael Stillwell, a standout player for the Milwaukee men's basketball team, has received recognition as the Lute Olson National Player of the Week. The announcement was made on Monday by the organization responsible for this accolade.
In addition to this national honor, Stillwell was also named the Horizon League Under Armour Horizon Player of the Week earlier in the day. His performance during recent games has been noteworthy, with averages of 20.5 points and 18.5 rebounds per game in victories against Green Bay and Akron.
Stillwell achieved back-to-back double-doubles, maintaining a shooting percentage of 58.3% from the floor and 71.4% from three-point range. He also contributed three assists and three steals during these games.
One highlight was his season-high 24 points and a record-breaking 19 rebounds against Green Bay, surpassing a school record that had stood since 1995. Currently, he ranks second nationally with an average of 12.1 rebounds per game.
This league award marks Stillwell's first during his time at Milwaukee and is the team's second this season following Themus Fulks' recognition on November 25th. The national honor is significant for the program as it represents their first since the inception of the Lute Olson Award in 2010, which acknowledges outstanding men's college basketball players in NCAA Division I competition.
