Jamichael Stillwell, a player from the Milwaukee men's basketball team, has been recognized as one of the five Oscar Robertson National Players of the Week for his performances through December 15. This announcement was made by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) on Tuesday afternoon.
Stillwell's recent achievements include being named the Lute Olson National Player of the Week and the Horizon League Under Armour Horizon Player of the Week earlier this week.
The USBWA continues its national player of the week program, affiliated with the Oscar Robertson Trophy since the 2009-10 season. Each Tuesday during the regular season, USBWA board members select five standout players from Division I conference players of the week. The current selections were made from those named on Monday.
The selected players this week are:
- Lamont Butler from Kentucky (Southeastern Conference) scored 33 points and had six assists against Louisville, making all his field goal attempts.
- Tarence Guinyard from UT Martin (Ohio Valley Conference) averaged 31 points, 7.5 rebounds, and four assists per game over two games, achieving career-highs in points and rebounds.
- Jamichael Stillwell from Milwaukee (Horizon League) averaged 20.5 points and 18.5 rebounds in wins at Green Bay and Akron.
- Taryn Todd from Arkansas State (Sun Belt Conference) had a league-best performance averaging 27 points and seven rebounds per game in two wins.
- Brice Williams from Nebraska (Big Ten Conference) set season highs with 30 points, ten field goals, six rebounds, and five assists in a win over Indiana.
The USBWA has been awarding a National Player of the Year since the 1958-59 season. In 1998, it was named after University of Cincinnati Hall of Famer Oscar Robertson.
