The Milwaukee men's basketball team experienced a narrow defeat against Robert Morris, with a final score of 81-79. The game took place at the UWM Panther Arena on Sunday afternoon. Despite nearly overcoming a 14-point deficit in the second half, the Panthers were unable to secure a victory.
Head coach Bart Lundy acknowledged Robert Morris's strong performance: "Give Robert Morris a ton of credit," he said. "They were tougher, more physical, more prepared and the better-coached team today." Lundy praised RMU coach Andrew Toole for his effective management of the team.
Milwaukee fell behind after halftime with a score of 55-41 but managed to close the gap to one point at 72-71 later in the period. A chance to tie or win was blocked in the closing seconds, marking Milwaukee's first home loss this season and ending their 12-game home winning streak.
Lundy reflected on his team's performance: "I didn't think we had our usual edge – we got outrebounded in the first half, lost pretty much every 50-50 ball." He emphasized that turnovers and missed free throws hindered their comeback efforts.
Jamichael Stillwell led Milwaukee's offense with a career-high 26 points, shooting 10-of-16 from the field and adding seven rebounds. Themus Fulks and Erik Pratt each contributed 13 points, while Kentrell Pullian added another 12 points.
For Robert Morris, all five starters scored in double figures. Josh Omojafo and Kam Woods led with 15 points each. Amarian Dickerson made a crucial block that helped secure their victory.
The Panthers will face Wright State next Wednesday as they continue their league matchups on the road.
