The Milwaukee track and field teams are set to compete at the Mark Guthrie Legacy Invite this Saturday, hosted by UW-La Crosse. The event will take place at Hetzel Fieldhouse in La Crosse, Wisconsin, starting at 2:00 p.m.
Reflecting on their recent performance, the men's team had notable achievements at Notre Dame's Meyo Invite. Evan Bartelsen excelled in pole vault with a clearance of 4.96 meters, securing third place on the program's all-time indoor leaderboard. Freshman Iymi Fagbamiye impressed in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.05, placing him fifth in school history. Another freshman, Anthony Buford, achieved seventh place in the long jump with a distance of 7.15 meters.
Caden Thomas claimed first place in high jump by clearing 1.96 meters, while Jaelyn Reeves-Lile secured third place in the 60m dash with a time of 6.80 seconds.
On the women's side, Anelise Egge set a new school record in the mile run with a time of 4:47.25 during their outing at the Meyo Invite. Hailey Soriaga improved her standing in pole vault history by clearing 3.76 meters.
Dominique Thomas delivered strong performances as well, finishing second in the 200m dash with a time of 24.59 seconds and achieving fifth place in the 60m dash at 7.64 seconds.
Anna Szepieniec demonstrated her versatility by securing third place in long jump with a leap of 5.69 meters and placing fifth in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.74 seconds.
Looking ahead, Milwaukee will participate next Friday, February 14th, at Grand Valley State's Big Meet Friday held in Allendale, Michigan.
