Assembly Bill 313, introduced by Representative Rob Brooks, was recently discussed in a public hearing before the Committee on Financial Institutions. The bill proposes removing the minimum net worth requirement for licensed mortgage brokers in Wisconsin. According to Brooks, this change would align Wisconsin with other Midwestern states and could increase the number of mortgage professionals available to consumers. He stated that such an increase "would significantly benefit consumers by increasing the number of mortgage professionals available in communities. The aforementioned increase would foster competition, lead to more personalized service and more favorable loan terms for homebuyers."
Brooks is also seeking nominations for the 59th Assembly District's 2025 First Responder of the Year award. Eligible nominees include law enforcement officers, firefighters, or EMS providers. Nominations can be based on various criteria such as heroic actions, professional achievements, or length of service. The deadline for submissions is September 18th.
Last month, Governor Evers signed into law a Dietitian Licensure Compact bill authored by Brooks. This legislation allows dietitians licensed in Wisconsin to obtain a “compact privilege,” enabling them to practice dietetics in other compact states if they meet certain requirements.
Several community events are scheduled in the district over the coming weeks, including a Fire Department Custom Auto Show at Grady Park and additional activities sponsored by local organizations.
Brooks encourages constituents to stay informed about legislative developments through subscription services offered by the legislature that allow tracking of specific bills and committee activities.
Brooks was elected as a Republican representative for Wisconsin’s 59th House district in 2025, succeeding Ty Bodden.
