Sen. Patrick Testin, a Republican representing Wisconsin's 24th Senate district since 2017, has announced new initiatives focused on local infrastructure and energy policy through a series of posts on social media.
On September 15, 2025, Testin informed the public that "Applications are now being accepted for the next round of funding through the Non-State Grant Program, which helps support local infrastructure improvements and community development projects across Wisconsin. The deadline to apply for a share of the $50 million that’s available". The announcement provides an opportunity for municipalities and organizations to seek financial support for various improvement projects throughout the state.
Later that day, Testin shared details about new proposed legislation regarding renewable energy. In a post dated September 15, 2025, he wrote: "Earlier today, Rep. Scott Krug and I participated in a press conference where we introduced legislation allowing for the construction of community solar facilities in Wisconsin. The bill ensures that local governments would have the final say over any community solar project".
The following day, September 16, 2025, Testin expanded on the goals of this legislation by stating: "This legislation is designed to directly address those rising energy prices by expanding access to locally generated, affordable power. Just as importantly, it ensures that communities themselves are in the driver’s seat, with a meaningful role in deciding where and how these".
Testin was elected to his current position in 2017 after succeeding Howard Marklein as senator for Wisconsin's 24th district. His recent efforts reflect ongoing priorities within state government to promote both economic development and increased access to renewable energy at the local level.
