Former Milwaukee Police Chief Alfonso Morales appears to be destined for reinstatement sometime in the next week, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
In what was a tumultuous back and forth with the city, Morales will come out on top after filing a lawsuit against the city alleging that the process in which he sought his own term as chief was flawed and chaotic.
Public officials are commenting on the very public ordeal on social media. Sen. Lena Taylor weighed in on Facebook, saying, "Interesting development on the return of MPD Chief Morales. We need a FPC that has all of its appointments filled, fully staffed and functioning. Honestly, this is a mess."
Morales was originally put into the chief role to replace his retiring predecessor. At the end of that term, he decided to seek his own term. The process was "chaotic," according to Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, which gave Morales an unfair shake at the position, he claims.
Morales was in and out of the position several times due to administrative processes and general disorganization within the department. Ultimately, it seems that Morales will end up in the position, after winning his lawsuit against the city this week.
