The Elmbrook Little League U-12 team is moving up the ranks after winning the state championship title.
"Congratulations to Elmbrook Little League on winning the state championship—now, on to the Great Lakes Regional! Wisconsin is rooting for you," Gov. Tony Evers said.
The Elmbrook team won the state championship title on July 30, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
The coach was impressed with the work ethic and focus of the 13 12 year olds in the game that ended 5-2 for their victory against Glendale, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
The team competed on Aug. 8 against the Michigan championship team for a chance to move on to the Nationals, but lost, according to the Little League.
The top two teams that advance out of the Great Lakes Regional will head to Williamsport, Pennsylvania, for the Little League World Series, according to WTMJ.
The Little League World Series Great Lakes Regional Tournament in Whitestown, Indiana.
The Elmbrook team beat Glendale 5-2 to win the state championship, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel said in its article that this is the first time the Elmbrook all-star team has won the state championship.
This is the last year that the entire team can play in this age bracket as many age out next year, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel article stated.
