Milwaukee Recreation is maintaining its end-of-school-year tradition at Riverside University High School Community Center with the Iron Tiger Triathlon. The event is scheduled for June 1 along Milwaukee's east side on the Milwaukee River Bike Trail. This triathlon offers a friendly competition for individuals attempting their first race or those looking to add another contest to their racing portfolio. The primary aim of this event is to foster a robust community and support Milwaukee Public Schools and Milwaukee Recreation.

The Iron Tiger Triathlon is open to both young people and adults, offering a warm pool swim, a scenic river bike ride on a paved trail through the woods, and concluding with a run on the soft surface of the new RUHS track. Except for two guarded crossings, the entire triathlon takes place off-street.

The sprint distance triathlon comprises an 825-yard pool swim (17 lengths), followed by a 12.4-mile single loop ride on a paved bike path, and concludes with a 3.1-mile run. For younger participants, there will be a mini-sprint with the pool distance varying between 100-200 yards (four or eight lengths depending on skill level), an 8-mile bike ride, and a 1-mile run.

Both the bike path and track are located just 40 yards from the pool, allowing for quick transitions between stages. All participants are required to have a bike helmet while swim caps and goggles are highly recommended.

The event will be organized in five different "waves", starting at intervals of half an hour from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. The first wave at 9:00 am is open to ages eight and up while the subsequent four waves are open to ages twenty and up.
