Jonathan Wordell, a 2020 graduate of Wisconsin Lutheran College (WLC), is the featured alumnus for December 2024. With a major in Business Administration and a minor in Communication, Wordell currently works as an Account Executive at TRG Marketing.
Reflecting on his decision to attend WLC, Wordell shared, "I was unsure about my path after high school, and WLC was the only college I applied to because my siblings went there. Looking back, I can really appreciate the value of the WLC community and how WLC prepared me for a life of servant leadership."
Wordell's time at WLC was marked by several memorable experiences. He recounted traveling to Hilton Head, South Carolina for spring break tennis trips during his first three years at college. Other highlights included late-night movies with fellow Resident Assistants in the Fischer classroom and playing Scrabble with friends in the Warrior Underground.
Since graduating, Wordell has embarked on various adventures. "I don’t think I’ve ever had a 'bucket list' per se," he said. However, he did go on an action-packed road trip to Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons with friends Jake and Skylor after graduation. He also found fulfillment in his marketing career and married Claire, another WLC alumna.
Currently focused on personal growth, Wordell is considering graduate school to expand his knowledge while maintaining an active lifestyle through tennis, soccer, and gym workouts.
When asked about something people might not know about him, Wordell revealed that despite being jokey around others, he is often quiet and introspective when alone.
His first job was as a busboy at a country club. In terms of career insights gained over time, Wordell emphasized the importance of mentorship: "It’s important to find a mentor or boss who is genuinely invested in your success. They can offer support, expertise, and encouragement that significantly accelerate your professional development."
