The Metropolitan Milwaukee Alliance of Black School Educators (MMABSE) has recognized 165 Milwaukee-area educators as Teachers of the Year for 2024. The organization, which focuses on equitable educational opportunities for all children, honored these individuals at its 22nd annual Teachers of the Year Recognition Gala held on May 4 at the Baird Center downtown. The event was attended by 1,040 people.

Of the educators recognized, 114 are from Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS). The MPS educators honored include Monica Ahn from Alexander Mitchell Integrated Arts School, Leticia Aldape from Louisa May Alcott School, and Hayley Awe from George Washington Carver Academy, among others.

MMABSE represents educators, parents, and guardians throughout greater Milwaukee and is one of the oldest affiliates of the National Alliance of Black School Educators (NABSE).
